Digging Deeside Social Gardening, based at Queensferry War Memorial Institute, Queensferry, Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales. is a dynamic community initiative set up by Social Enterprise, RainbowBiz CIC designed to foster a love for gardening and promote environmental sustainability throughout the Deeside area. Our organisation brings together residents of all ages and backgrounds to participate in a variety of gardening activities, from planting and maintaining community gardens to organizing workshops and educational events.
Based in Flintshire, RainbowBiz CIC is a social enterprise, established ten years ago, which supports some of the most marginalised members of the community. They enable and empower volunteers to develop skills, celebrate people, and engage with the local community.
The social gardening project is aimed at improving wellbeing and relieving stress. The weekly community project offers basic gardening skills, life skills and the chance to make new friends. Most importantly, the project offers a safe place to meet like-minded people.
Through our hands-on approach, participants can learn essential gardening skills, share tips and experiences, and engage in meaningful conversations about ecological practices. We believe that gardening not only enhances our surroundings but also plays a pivotal role in improving mental well-being, reducing stress, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
In addition to regular gardening sessions, we host events that encourage community involvement, such as our regular plant and share days. These gatherings provide an opportunity to connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts, inspire others to appreciate the beauty of nature and foster a sense of belonging within our community.
